All football teams are built around a quarterback. The success of a team hinges on how well the quarterback can lead their team to victory. Both teams have solid guys under center, so it makes sense to look at the two and how they’ve performed this season.
The Seattle Seahawks have Sam Darnold under center. He has had one of the more interesting careers. It started with him being drafted third overall by the Jets. It was a disappointing stretch with New York. He then went to the Panthers and couldn’t get anything to work there, either. He wound up going to San Francisco and then Minnesota before landing in Seattle.
Last year or maybe the Minnesota year was his breakout year, and while he didn’t win the MVP in either, he was in conversation and led the Seahawks to the Super Bowl. He hasn’t been quite as impressive in the early going as he was last year. He has five interceptions this season, which is on pace for more than he had last year. Last season he threw 14 interceptions and 25 touchdowns.
The Denver Broncos also invested in a quarterback early in the draft, choosing Bo Nix three years ago with the 12th overall pick. He had a strong college career, but there were a lot of people questioning how good Nix would be under center. His first two years were both pretty good and fairly similar. The Broncos could use him stepping up with more weapons this year.
In the past two seasons, he has thrown for 54 touchdowns and 23 interceptions. Not only does he need to protect the ball more, but Nix also should try to generate more passing touchdowns. He has mixed in some success running the ball, but it isn’t his primary method of advancing the ball. That’s a good thing, but he is only averaging 1.9 yards per carry this season.
Two solid starters under center will battle to bring their team to 4-2. Which quarterback will prevail in this one? BetMGM is offering new users the promo code FOXNEWS, which allows you to bet up to $1,500, and if the wager loses, you’ll receive a refund in the form of bonus wagers.
