Whether you love the guy, hate the guy or this is the first time you’re being introduced to the man, the universal truth about Michael Block is that he is one of one.
Block, a longtime PGA teaching professional, grabbed a stranglehold on the golf world at the 2023 PGA Championship when he finished tied for 15th and hit a hole-in-one during the final round while playing alongside Rory McIlroy.
The Block inevitably cooled off for a bit after experiencing a nearly indescribable moment on a major championship stage, but the California native turned 50 in June, and the Block is hot again.

Block made his PGA Tour Champions debut two weeks after hitting the half-century mark and pieced together an impressive T-9 finish. Since then, he’s made 10 more starts on the senior circuit and has been mightily impressive with three Top 5 finishes along the way.
This past weekend he finished T-10 at the Simmons Bank Championship, and while the finish was nice and the $51,000 payday probably felt good in the pocket, the real treat was a quote he delivered after his opening round 66.

Block felt obliged to go on record to let the world know he has, in fact, not left his wife or children in the midst of his impressive stint on the senior tour.
“I mean, yes, of course, the money’s a part of being on the PGA Tour Champions. But to me, I still drive the same car, live in the same house, have the same wife, I have the same kids, I still work from my phone, and you know what, it is what it is, and it hasn’t changed me one iota,” Block explained.
“I’m just having a blast, having a great time. I have a very supportive country club back in Orange County, California called Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club that the ownership and management supports me 100 percent and there’s no way on God’s green earth that I could do what I’m doing without.”
Nobody does it like Michael Block does it.
It’s unclear where exactly his mention about not leaving his wife and kids came from, unless he was making a general statement about other players getting divorced, but the never-knowing what is going to come out of Block’s mouth next is what makes him a can’t-miss character.
Without missing a single cut in his 11 starts on the PGA Tour Champions, Block has earned just over $600,000.
