The NBA is back after taking Election Day off, and it’s making up for lost time with 14 games on Wednesday’s schedule. The headliner tips at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, where LeBron James, Tyrese Maxey and the 76ers visit Cade Cunningham and the Pistons in a rematch of two of the East’s best teams. These two already met once this season, when both came in at 2-0 in Philadelphia on Oct. 25, resulting in a 106-93 Pistons victory. That game was billed as an early statement between two contenders, and the rematch carries the same weight. Detroit finished last season atop the Eastern Conference, while Philadelphia added LeBron James and Jaylen Brown to a backcourt led by Tyrese Maxey and entered the year as one of the title favorites.
Cunningham is the engine for Detroit and has grown into a legitimate MVP candidate. He controls the pace, gets to his spots in the fourth quarter and carries a huge share of the scoring and playmaking. The big question for the Pistons as it has been the last year or so is support. Jalen Duren has been dealing with an injury, and without him, Detroit loses its best rebounder and interior finisher. Check his status before you bet.
There is no question that in 2026, Philadelphia brings more star power. Maxey is one of the league’s most explosive scorers, and LeBron gives the Sixers a second creator who can run the offense when Maxey sits. If Philly gets its transition game going in Detroit, it can win this one on the road.
If Duren is limited, Detroit’s offense runs through Cunningham even more than usual. He’s the player the Pistons trust in close games, and a nationally televised rematch with a contender is exactly the kind of night where he takes over. His points line is the cleanest way to bet on this game.
Mavericks at Spurs closes the ESPN doubleheader at 9:30 p.m. ET, and Cavaliers at Thunder at 8 p.m. ET is one of the best matchups of the night.
