Alaric Jackson’s fateful punch of Bradley Chubb, which has been in the news cycle for multiple days, finally received a firsthand explanation from the man on the receiving end of the blow.
On the same day the NFL reduced Jackson’s suspension from two games to one, Chubb gave reporters a moment-by-moment account of what happened.
And, frankly, Chubb’s account paints Jackson as overreacting, if the Buffalo Bills linebacker is to be believed.

Chubb admitted that the highly charged fourth quarter between the Bills and Rams played on everyone’s emotions. Chubb said both he and Jackson were “talking junk” to each other and admitted he carries some blame.
“I’m not going to say to y’all I don’t have any fault in the situation,” Chubb admitted. “I’ll tell you exactly what I said. I heard I’ve been talking about his mom and different things. That’s not true at all.”

So what’s Chubb’s truth?
“I went up to him, I said, ‘Hey, we’re gonna see y’all [butt] again,'” Chubb said, “and when we see y’all again, that chip ain’t going to save you. That tight end, that guard is not going to save you. That’s what I said.”
So, let’s understand the footballspeak here: Chubb claims he warned Jackson that the next time they meet, presumably in the Super Bowl, the Rams tackle won’t be helped by Los Angeles running backs chipping Chubb or tight ends and guards helping with double-teams.
“And then he said, ‘What you say?'” Chubb added.
Jackson approached Chubb and got closer.
“People said I put my hand in his face,” Chubb continued, now backing away from the huddle of reporters to demonstrate how he started counting off things that wouldn’t help block him next time.
“I said, ‘The chip’s not going to save you. The guard’s not going to … boom.”
Chubb said that after the punch he thought about how to respond but obviously decided not to punch back.
“There’s so many different ways you can react,” he said. “Everybody wants you to react a certain way. Everybody wants you to do a certain thing, but it’s like, boom. I got to think about where I’m at, what situation I’m in.
“My team needs me. They brought me here to play and to be a leader. And I feel like if I would have reacted, if I would have did anything in both of those situations, I’m not doing what they brought me here to do.”

Whether Chubb’s account is 100% accurate or not there are things that are not refutable.
Jackson swung, thus violating NFL policy. Chubb did not swing which is the reason he’s not suspended for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
And while Chubb moves forward, Jackson suffers another black mark on his record because this will be his second NFL suspension.
Jackson was suspended in September 2024 for violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy in connection to an encounter with a woman pertaining to the taping of their intimate relations.
And in an unrelated incident on the morning of June 9, 2026, Jackson was arrested after Los Angeles police responded to a domestic disturbance call at his West Hills home late the previous night. Police booked him on suspicion of felony domestic violence and set bail at $50,000. Jackson was never formally charged because the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office assigned the case to a pre-filing diversion program.
Officials said the matter remained open and could be reconsidered if new developments emerged.
It’s unclear if assaulting an opposing player after a football game qualifies as new developments, but it certainly paints Jackson as a hothead.
